Three Rules of Social Media

If you want to be a successful networker and be able to connect with people on a consistant basis, I’d recommend that you take the time out to read (or listen to the audio book) “Never Eat Alone” by Keith Ferrazzi. It’s an excellent practical book on networking.

Keith Ferrazzi recently came out with a new book titled “Who’s Got Your Back?” – I haven’t read the book, so I’m not going to comment on it, however I found this video to be something that’s worth sharing.

Three Rules of Social Media (as per the video):

  • Get usernames that are directly associated with your brand – ie – @leechon, @almaghribhq
  • Apply 60-30-10 to your online activity. 10% if marketing. 30% is messaging. 60% if you being yourself so that you can attach a real face and personality to your brand/company/organization. Social media is about socializing.
  • Make it a point to have a direct conversation at least every week with someone who has responded to you. It’s great to start conversations with influencers because they have pull in your arena. This allows people to know that you are engaged with them and builds a relationship with them.
