What Is The Benefit Of Facebook?

Reading time: 2 – 3 minutes

Question:

What do you get from Facebook? If you can identify the purpose of this phenomenon of Facebook, can you tell me if you could achieve it through other means.

The reason I ask is that I think its all good and well to share anectodes, music, videos, political & religious views, but to what end?

I would just like to hear/read your perspective.

Answer:

Facebook is a tool, and like all the other social media tools out there the objective is to influence people by connecting with them, building relationships and moving them towards a specific action or decision – physically or mentally.

People generally have a need for human connection -  the need to be loved and/or be recognized. Social media tools like Facebook allow for that to happen on a magnified scale.

As du’aat, marketers and influencers – our objective becomes to fulfill the people’s need to be loved and/or be recognized so that they can be inspired to move in a positive direction.

Can people be influenced, can relationships be built and can we connect with people via other means? – Of course, however social media makes doing all of those things so much easier and efficient.
